Information
This
program is now available in Microsoft Access 97 and Microsoft 2000/XP
versions.
The program, installation program, and sample database were designed
for a 32 bit Windows environment (Microsoft Windows 95 +). You
also must have a copy of Microsoft Access 97, 2000, or XP installed
on your computer to run this application.
Installation
Access LCTA will no longer ask for a user name and password. If
your database was converted to Access by CEMML and it is password
protected you have two options:
- Contact CEMML to remove the password protection of your database.
- Select the option to install the short cut to use the Access
work group file.
When Access LCTA was originally released the program was password
protected by using the internal capabilities of Microsoft Access.
User information and
privileges were stored in a Microsoft Access work group file. The installation
program would add the necessary parameters to the short cut for Access LCTA
so
the correct work group file was used. In some cases databases converted by
CEMML were also password protected.
This protection has been removed from Access LCTA, making the
program easier to use. If your LCTA database is not password
protected no action is required. If it is protected you must either
have your database converted to a version with no password protection
(the best option) or select the option during this installation
to have an icon (short cut) created for Access LCTA that references
the work group file. This short cut will be labeled "Access
LCTA with Password".
During this installation the original Access LCTA work group file,
file containing privileges information, will be installed to the
install directory under the /mdw
directory. This is the file that will be referenced by the short cut if you
choose to have it created. If you experience problems accessing your database
with this
group file, caused by insufficient privileges, locate your original LCTASYS.MDW
file and replace the LCTASYS.MDW file in the /MDW directory.
Note: Even though a database is not password
protected you can still restrict access to this file by using
network or operating system options. Consult your computer support
personnel for ways to do this.
The program is provided with an installation program. Download
the file to your computer then follow these procedures:
- Place the file in a temporary directory
- Run the file to begin the installation process
- Follow the prompts on the screen
- Please refer to the disclaimer below
A sample LCTA database is provided below if you do not have an
existing LCTA database. Download the file to your computer then
follow these procedures:
- Place the file in a temporary directory
- Execute the file to extract the database
- The database can be placed anywhere on your computer but it
is suggested you place it in the same directory as the application
database (LCTA.MDB) [Top]

Information
Please refer to the PLANTS
National Database Copyright Information site for copyright
information on the data provided in the Species database.
You may also want to visit the United States Department of Agriculture
Natural Resources Conservation Service National
PLANTS Database site.
The Species database provided with Access LCTA contains data from
the 1982 version of the PLANTS database (USDA SCS-TP-159 1982).
The PLANTS database is a single source of standardized information
about plants for of the USA and its territories. As mentioned,
the PLANTS table of the Species database contains an older representation
of the NCRS PLANTS database. These data are the original database
used when LCTA started, and is provided to be backward-compatible
for installations using this list. For recommendations on using
more recent PLANTS data, please contact the LCTA support center.
