Update on CEMML technical support contract for
"Cultural Resources Management Assistance to DoD"
for 2001 – 2006
by
U.S. Army Environmental Center (AEC), Aberdeen, MD and
U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (AMRAA), Fort Detrick, MD

Award No. DAMD17-02-2-0008

CEMML's award for Cultural Resources Management Assistance to the Department of Defense as part of the Army Environmental Center's Program Assistance Announcement 00-2 has recently undergone changes in U.S. Army Point-of-Contact information at Fort Detrick, MD, as of June, 2004. The award establishes a cost-reimbursable Cooperative Agreement between Colorado State University and the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) at Fort Detrick, MD, through which DoD funds may be obligated on individual task orders for comprehensive cultural resources technical support.

The contract mechanism has a five-year performance period (1-NOV-01 to 31-OCT-06) and is available to all services of the Department of Defense. This contract award will allow CEMML to continue to provide full technical support services to installations and other offices in the following three areas of interest: (a) development of Integrated Cultural Resource Management Plans; (b) technical assistance for DoD Cultural Resource Management needs; and (c) Native American Consultation assistance. The geographic area of support is the entire United States.

Dr. Robert Shaw, CEMML's Director, serves as the primary Principal Investigator for this contract, while Dr. James A. Zeidler, CEMML's Associate Director for Cultural Resources, serves as Co-Principal Investigator on all projects. Dr. Zeidler manages all task execution and workload distribution under the contract. Installations or MACOMs desiring to use this mechanism for contract support by CEMML should contact the new (as of August, 2004) Contracting Officer at USAMRAA at the following address:

Rita E. Johnson, Contract Specialist
U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Facility
820 Chandler Street
Fort Detrick, MD 21702-5014
TEL: 301-619-2359; FAX: 301-619-2505
E-MAIL: Marquerita.Johnson@det.amedd.army.mil

As before, Task Order submissions for contract work to be performed by CEMML should be so identified by the requesting installation when funds and statements of work are submitted to the USAMRAA Contracting Office. The Contract Number is DAMD17-02-2-0008. Since other firms have been given awards under this same contract, it is important that installations desiring continuity of contractor support by CEMML indicate this preference in their submissions.

Other contract mechanisms available for CEMML support, including the U.S. Forest Service Research Cost-Reimbursable Agreement and direct Cooperative Agreements with installations, remain in effect. Questions concerning the AEC/USAMRAA Services Contract or any other contract mechanisms available may be addressed to Alan Mertens at (970) 491-6620 or through e-mail correspondence at Alan.Mertens@ColoState.EDU.
