212. Yaman


Ghor Province. 38 kilometers east of Taiwara.

Date:   Ghurid period, 12th-13th century (architectural, geographical evidence)

Ruins covering an extensive area, consisting of isolated, unconnected towers and small forts. Each is separated by circa 100 meters, they do not appear to form any pattern. They are round or square, with plain arched entrances. Construction is generally of mud-brick, though stone and even wood are sometimes used. There are also many burials with brass burial cups at their heads and feet.
