CEMML Data & Systems
Lab

CEMML provides comprehensive data management, analysis,
and report preparation for the Armys Integrated Training Area
Management (ITAM) and Range and Training Land Assessment (RTLA)
programs. Natural resource inventory and monitoring data from the
RTLA program are integrated into a relational database.
Installation datasets and GIS database information are integrated
to focus on installation specific questions.
Data Management
Data management ranges from the simple (development of a data
storage system) to the complex (integration of various data
formats) and is designed to assist installations
fully utilize collected data. The Center offers technical support, on-site
visits to help with project design and data organization, individual and
group training, and data development.
Inventory and Monitoring Methods
Technical guidance is available to address specific vegetation survey needs.
The Center assists installations with meeting their land use and conservation
goals by:
- Identifying and documenting of habitat characteristics for
specific species
- Monitoring exotic species, species of concern, etc.
- Developing methodologies for unique vegetation questions (e.g.,
clonal species, riparian areas, military and nonmilitary disturbances)
Customized Applications and Support
In addition to basic analyses, the Center offers custom application
and data development including programming, data acquisition,
and data transcription.
Basic systems operation support is available. Systems support is designed
to augment manufacturers hardware and software maintenance agreements.
The U.S. Army Environmental Center and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
made many of these services free to installations. See more
information on these free services on the Range
and Training Land Assessment (RTLA) Technical Support for the U.S.
Army Environmental Center (AEC) page.
