Environmental Compliance and Cleanup Management Support

Environmental compliance and pollution prevention are key aspects of any successful environmental program. The Center provides technical support in these key areas. The Center can provide on-site and/or off-site technical assistance that is tailored to meet the needs of environmental managers. Pollution prevention programs provide the initiative to reduce and prevent pollution at the source. The Center has been actively involved in
pollution prevention programs by providing technical support in areas such as waste reduction, recycling, and environmental management systems (EMS).

The Center provides assistance to environmental managers in compliance areas such as air, water, waste, toxics, and storage tanks. Center personnel (scientists, technicians, and managers) can provide support for: interpretation and/or implementation of state, federal, and agency regulations; permitting, planning, and reporting; as wells as inspections and operations. Center personnel have worked on-site as part of integrated teams working towards meeting compliance goals. This integration has allowed Center personnel to interact with environmental managers and provide direct support in multimedia program areas.

Additionally, the Center can provide technical support for management of environmental cleanup projects. On-site support typically involves day-to-day project management under the guidance of an agency environmental manager. Center personnel have provided support for technical review of documents, development of project specific scopes of work, project cost estimation, cost-to-complete estimation, environmental database management, monitoring, and reporting. The Center also has the capability to develop and manage GIS systems to track environmental data such as tanks, wells, contaminants, institutional control areas, and installation action plan data. Some examples of support provided by the Center include:

  • On-Site Support Personnel
  • Environmental Noise Management and Planning (IENMP)
  • Waste Management and Planning (RCRA)
  • Drinking Water Management and Consumer Confidence Reporting
  • Pollution Prevention and Recycling (P2)
  • Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Support
  • Wastewater and Storm Water Management and Planning
  • Environmental Cleanup Technical and Project Management Support
  • Environmental Database Development and Management
